3/4 length elevating roof providing double bed upstairs and 75cm additional head height from the back of the cab to back of the van.
This roof will fit any tin top van or replace any elevating roof. The ideal hole size is 2 metres long by 109cm wide. If the hole is smaller, we can enlarge it at no extra cost. If the hole is bigger, we will need to place steel back into the steel roof. There will be an additional charge for this.
The VW Splitscreen roof comes as a kit which would take a practical DIYer 3 days to fit. If you are having it supplied as a kit, it comes fully assembled, with headlining, gas struts, seals, locking straps, canopy and support framework already fitted. We supply everything down to nuts, bolts, pop rivets, etc. The only thing you should need to buy is a tube of silicone sealant. The kit also comes with comprehensive fitting instructions, and us at the end of the phone if you have any queries.

We can fit our VW Splitscreen roofs to some vans in one day (cost is an additional £250 plus vat). This service can only be provided for tin top vans or where you have removed your existing roof. Please contact us support@spaceroofs.co.uk to find out if your van could have this done.
For fitting - we can either do this for you, or we can suggest a number of fitters in the UK and abroad. Any good garage should be able to do this for you too. We supply comprehensive fitting instructions, with us at the end of the phone if you have any queries.
For fitting, we ask to have your van for a week and customers usually bring their van down on a Friday or Saturday and collect the following Friday or Saturday. Thinking of holidaying whilst you are in Devon? We can fit your roof in a shorter timescale if your van and current roof meet certain criteria.
A 3mm mild steel framework is attached down both sides of the cut steel hole, and across the rear. This provides longitudinal strength and also provides support for the bed. The original factory cross member is utilised and moved backwards to sit under the new cut hole, to retain the strength in the roof. The fibreglass roof is fitted with four external gas struts and has an internal aluminium lifting framework at either end, so the roof is stable in all weathers.
The framework is designed the to lift the roof by approx 75cm. Once the roof is fitted it will add approximately 14cm to the height of your van. The hole in your steel roof will be approximately 200cm x 110cm.
We'd love to have a chat and talk through the options with you!
